Phnom Penh

Location: Saigon
Weather: Warm

COME ON THEN!

HAVE A GO IF YOU THINK YOU'RE HARD ENOUGH!

Wanna Mess? My M60 Says OK!

Lieutennant Reed & His Trusty M16 From 'Nam

Me Brandishing Two Fully Automatic AK47's

And No! I Haven't Had A Haircut, It's Just Tied Back!

Another 5 hour bus journey and I rolled into Phnom Penh - capital of Cambodia. I immediately visited the exquisite Royal Palace and The Firing Range about 20km's out of town!!! I got to fire an AK47, Uzi machine gun and a 7.62mm M60 machine gun - they normally use this thing on helicopters, it's the sort that shoots telegraph poles in half!!! I had to put on a jacket when firing it cos the bullets flicking out the side bruised my chest at first!
Annoyingly they'd run out of bullets for the classic American M16 used by GI's in Vietnam, so I fired some kind of pistol at some targets, it had some serious kickback. I found the whole thing awesome! I think I'm moving to Switzerland so I can personally own some of these weapons, as they have no gun control there! It cost me a $100, but hey where else can you do this kind of thing? auto weapons are illegal even in the USA and I'd been waiting/saving for a year to go to this place! Backpacker legend is that you can blow up a cow with a rocket launcher at this place - there is a story about some Swiss or Dutch guy who spent all his money firing rockets at the cow, but missed and ended up running out of money and had to sell the cow at a local market to buy a bus ticket back to Thailand - not so sure if any of this is true now, maybe if you ask under-the-counter the cow thing might be possible.

P.S. Hope I've confirmed all the stereotypes about me be a caring, sharing, love, peace and harmony type guy of the 90's. AHAHAHA!
