Rockhampton

Location: Townsville - the sunshine capital of Australia
Weather: Hot and a bit windy

Got the bus 5 hours down the coast to Rockhampton, got there around 11:30pm and waited...waited some more...still waiting over an hour later. Then got fed up and asked one of the bus drivers and he gave me a lift to where I was meant to be staying - The Ascot hotel. Rockhampton has a reputation for having statues of bulls in the streets and generally being a bit of a dump, but it's not that bad. Has a nice big river running through it and amazing outback countryside around - went on Capricorn Dave's Tour - this is the dude who showed Chris Pontius and Steve-O from Jackass around when they visited Australia! he is a bit of a nutter, when I was there he chased a tree snake, picked up a red-back spider and jumped barefooted on an ants nest. I too stood on the ants nest, but could only last their bites for about 5 seconds, unlike Dave who could get the ants to make letter shapes as he walked around and they followed his feet!
Also visited the beautiful Great Keppel Island - which is a pleasant beach resort, did some snorkling and swimming and went for another scuba dive.
